The Choral and Organ Trust is an independent body whose task is to support the Rector and Director of Music. The Trust's inspiration is drawn from the Instruction on Music in the Sacred Liturgy as found in the teaching of the Second Vatican Council: There should be choirs, or capellae or scholae cantorum, especially in cathedrals and other major churches, in seminaries and other religious houses of study, and they should be carefully encouraged. The Trust supports the Rector and Director of Music in the provision of choral and organ music by funding a number of choral, organ and conducting scholarships in the parish. In addition, the Trust assists the work of the Song School (Junior & Youth Choirs). In so doing, the Trust is greatly supporting the professional training of young singers and organists in the rich tradition of liturgical music that continues to flourish in the parish.
The Choral and Organ Scholarships are awarded to any full or part time student aged sixteen or above following an application, audition and interview.
